Finland: Savonlinna

Savonlinna (Swedish: Nyslott) is a town and a municipality of 35,760 inhabitants in the southeast of Finland, in the heart of the Saimaa lake region. The Finnish name of the town means "Castle of Savonia" and the Swedish name means "New Castle". In the middle of the card you can see the Olavinlinna Castle, which is also called castle of St. Olaf. The castle is built on an island in the Kyrönsalmi strait that connects the lakes Haukivesi and Pihlajavesi.
