Germany: Special Postcard - "75 years of Norderney Town Charter"

Norderney is one of the seven populated East Frisian Islands off the North Sea coast of Germany. The island is 14 by 2.5 kilometres, having a total area of about 26.3 square kilometres and is therefore Germany's ninth-largest island. Norderney's population amounts to about 5,850 people. In 1948 Norderney offically granted city rights and this year they celebrated the 75 Anniversary of this pivotal moment. For this event a speical postcard, special personalized stamp and postmark was put into circulation as you can see below.



To note the small postmark on the left which is the offical postmark of the city administration. As on the special cancellation on the right side too you can see the coat of Arms of Norderney.

Germany: Elsfleth w/ Fighting against Corona Postmark

Elsfleth is a town in the district of Wesermarsch, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated at the confluence of the River Hunte with the River Weser, on the left bank of the Weser. It has a school of navigation (university of applied sciences), a harbour and docks.

To note on this card, a fight against the Covid-19 pandemic postmark was applied. Since July 1st 2020 all mail sorting centers ("Briefzentrum") across Germany have this machine postmark. You can read on it "Gemeinsam gegen Corona / Sich selbst und andere schützen ..." ("Together Against Corona / Protect Yourself and Others ...").

Germany: Goslar

Goslar is a historic town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the administrative centre of the district of Goslar and located on the northwestern slopes of the Harz mountain range. The Old Town of Goslar and the Mines of Rammelsberg are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As the 2013 the Population of was 50,681.

Germany: Expo 2000 Hannover

This time I would like to show an old cover, which I got in my collection. Its from the Expo 2000. The Expo 2000 was a World's Fair held in Hannover, Germany from Thursday, June 1 to Tuesday, October 31, 2000. It was located on the Hannover fairground (Messegelände Hannover), which is the largest exhibition ground in the world. In total, 155 nations took part in this World's Fair.

Germany: Wolfsburg

Today I received a nice card from Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg is the fifth largest city in the German state of Lower Saxony. Located on the River Aller northeast of Braunschweig (Brunswick), it lies about 75 km (47 mi) east of Hanover and 230 km (143 mi) west of Berlin. Wolfsburg is famous as the location of Volkswagen AG's headquarters and the biggest car plant in the world that covers an area as big as Gibraltar. Wolfsburg is one of the few German cities built during the first half of the 20th century. It was founded on 1 July 1938 as a home for workers producing the "KdF-Wagen".

On the card you can see from the upper left: St. Annen Church, Wolfsburg Town Hall, Volkswagen Plants, Wolfsburg Castle.

Germany: Cuxhaven

Cuxhaven is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany. The town includes the northernmost point of Lower Saxony. It is situated on the shore of the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River. Its town quarters Duhnen, Döse and Sahlenburg are especially popular vacation spots on the North Sea and home to about 52,000 residents. The city's symbol, known as the Kugelbake is a beacon once used as a lighthouse; the wooden landmark on the mouth of the Elbe marks the boundary between the river and the North Sea and also adorns the city's coat of arms.

Germany: Horumersiel-Schillig

My Second card is from Horumersiel-Schillig. Schillig got a famous campsite which is located on the North Sea beach. The town and campsite is about 20 Kilometers north of Wilhelmshaven. On the large picture you can see for example the small harbor of Horumersiel.

Germany: Wilhelmshaven

Today I received two cards from Germany. My first card is from Wilhelmshaven. It is a coastal town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the western side of the Jade Bight, a bay of the North Sea. Wilhelmshaven is the centre of the “JadeBay” business region (which has around 330,000 inhabitants). Wilhelmshaven is Germany’s only deep-water port, and its largest naval base. One of the main industrial sectors in Wilhelmshaven is the port industry with its wharfs, sea port service companies, service providers and repair businesses, transhipment and handling businesses, and agencies, etc. The “JadeWeserPort” – Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) and the development of the neighbouring Freight Village provide prospects for employment in areas such as logistics and distribution.

Germany: Wangerooge

Today I received a nice card from Wangerooge. Wangerooge is one of the 32 Frisian Islands in the North Sea located close to the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. It is also a municipality in the district of Friesland in Lower Saxony in Germany.
