Luxembourg: 50 Years of Miami University in Luxembourg

Miami University (informally Miami of Ohio or simply Miami) is a public research university in Oxford, Ohio. The university was founded in 1809, although classes were not held until 1824. Miami University is the second-oldest university in Ohio and the 10th oldest public university (32nd overall) in the United States. In 1968 Miami founded a Luxembourg branch, today called the Miami University Dolibois European Center. Students live with Luxembourgian families, and study under Miami professors. The school bears the name of the US Ambassador, John Dolibois, a native of Luxembourg. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary this stamp was issued by POST Luxembourg.

I sent this Cover to me during my visit at the 2019 International Stamp fair in Essen, Germany.

Luxembourg: Cycling Stamps

This Cover is all about Cycling. Both stamps used to frank this cover from Luxembourg are related to Cycling.

The right one was issued because in 2017 two stages of the Tour de France led trough Luxembourg.  On 3 July, the riders came across Luxembourg from north to south over 115 km. On 4 July the fourth stage started from Mondorf-les-Bains along the Mosel up to the French city of Vittel in the Vosges region.

The left one commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the foundation of the "Fédération des Sociétés Cyclistes Luxembourgeoises (FSCL)" (Luxembourgish Cycling Federation) in 1917. Today, Luxembourg is widely associated with cycling, not only, but because of the "Schleck Brothers", Andy and Fränk Schleck.

Luxembourg: EUROPA - "Think Green"

Great to have this one in my collection. Luxembourg also issued two stamps for this year's EUROPA Stamps series. Did you know that Luxembourg is the least populated country in the European Union, with only 465,000 inhabitants. It is also the 20th smallest of the 194 independent countries in the world.

Thanks again to Jean-Marc for this great cover!

Luxembourg: New University of Luxembourg Campus

Some days ago, I received this nice cover from Luxemburg. Luxemburg, officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is a landlocked country in western Europe. It is bordered by Belgium to the west and north, Germany to the east, and France to the south. Its capital Luxembourg City is together with Brussels and Strasbourg one of the three official capitals of the European Union and seat of the European Court of Justice, highest juridical instance in the EU. Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe, and ranked 179th in size of all the 194 independent countries of the world.

On the cover you can see on the right a new issued stamp. Unfortunately, I don't get it scanned properly, because its reflecting, but it shows the New University of Luxembourg Campus in Belval. The University of Luxembourg was founded in 2003. Since 2015 the new headquarter of the University is in Belval. Belval was formerly the beating heart of Luxembourg’s steel industry and now takes on a new role as a place to live and to innovate. Now,  25,000 people, including 7,000 students and 3,000 scientists, will eventually live, work, and study in this area which is the size of 120 football pitches.

Many thanks to Jean-Marc for this nice Cover!
