The University of Innsbruck (German: Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck; Latin: Universitas Leopoldino Franciscea) is a public university in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol, founded in 1669. With around 28,000 students and 5,000 employees, it is today the largest educational institution in Western Austria, one of the country's leading research universities and shapes the region. In 2019 the university celebrated its 350th anniversary with numerous events.
